Authenticity always has an audience.
In an interview with Washington, DC’s FOX5 show, “Good Day DC,” Joe L explained his approach to authenticity in music. “I try to keep it authentic. One of my friends said this to me, and it stuck with me,” he shared. “Authenticity always has an audience. So I don’t think I have to switch it up.”
Joe L’s signature jewelry, shoulder-length locs, and pops of color show his unique style and commitment to authenticity. “I love my fashion, so I’m going to wear some fashionable stuff, but I’m going to keep it authentic and keep it authentically gospel,” he said. “I think authenticity will always have an audience.”
Born in Kentucky, Joe L Barnes serves as a songwriter and worship leader at The Shepherd’s Tent in Covington, Georgia. His passion for songwriting is matched by his dedication to teaching and equipping others with the tools to create and release their authentic sound.

Why The Good Shepherd?
Despite life’s highs and lows, Joe L hopes his album will encourage people and draw them closer to God.
“This album is actually an altar for God to reintroduce Himself to you as a good Shepherd,” he explained. “We need to be encouraged in the highs and the lows. He will come and find you, and He will bring you back home.”
