Let’s face it, there are a lot of misconceptions about Christian Hip Hop (CHH). And who better to set the record straight than Miles Minnick?
This San Francisco Bay Area native has been making waves in the CHH scene, and recently, he took his talents to Hot 97, New York City’s iconic radio station, to further his reach and set the record straight.
Host Nessa asked: “What would you say is the biggest misconception about the music you create?” Miles didn’t hesitate to respond.
“I think the biggest misconception about the music we make is that it’s only for Christians. It’s only for church people,” he began. “In all actuality, if you’re a believer in Christ, praise God. Yes, the music will be for you, but a larger part of my audience is people who don’t have a church home. If you look at my crowd, I’d say about 40 percent of them don’t even know how to pray yet. They’re starting their walk or they’re just fans of the music and it inspires them.”
He continued to tackle the myth head-on. “I think another misconception is that we’re not as good as people in the mainstream market, which I think has been debunked now in 2024.”
