Russell Wilson Shares A Lesson About Peace

When Russell Wilson gives advice about life, we tune in.

Somehow this guy balances being the star quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, husband to the multi-talented songstress Ciara, and father of three. More than all of that, he’s a man of God who is vocal about how his faith helps him through the good and bad times.

Russell recently opened up about how he finds peace in chaotic times.

“Y’all ever go to bed and you’re tossing and turning, you can’t sleep your mind’s running all these different things, or whatever it’s big or small, whatever it may be and you can’t find that peace,” he began in a video posted to Twitter. “And a lot of times we’re trying to find a piece of me, a piece of you, the piece of us. What the scripture says in Philippians 4:7, it says it’s the peace of God that transcends all understanding. That’s the kind of peace that I want to have, the peace of God.”

The athlete ended his message with a challenge for those of us who are in pursuit of peace.

“I challenge us to try to search for that. A lot of times what happens is is that we run to our own thoughts, our own ideas,” he said. “We’re constantly thinking about what we want to do, how we want to fix it, how we want to handle this how we want to do that, and how would God? How would Jesus?”

For Russell, this is a personal area that he is reflecting on.

“I think a lot of times, you know, I think the biggest thing that we have to connect to is the promise of God,  actually reading the Scripture, understanding what He wants for us,” he said. “I know for me personally, that’s what I’ve been working on is not trying to find my own peace, but God I want your peace. I want to peace of God. So I challenge us today, let’s go. Peace of God.”
